Exotic Gems, Volume 3

As you all know, we love, love, love gemstones!  We are always on the hunt for unique and colorful gemstones, such as Koroit opal and blue chalcedony – two of our favorites – to incorporate into our jewelry designs.

We have some exciting news to share about these two gems!  Photos of two of our Koroit opal designs and two of our blue chalcedony designs are now published in a book!

Check out Renée Newman’s new book released earlier this year called Exotic Gems, Volume 3.  In her book, Newman covers the identifying characteristics of tourmalines, fire agate, matrix opal (Koroit opal is included here), and blue chalcedony with stories, fun facts, where these gems can be found, how to care for them – absolutely anything you would want to know about these gems.

We met Renée in 2013 and she was immediately drawn to our jewelry and our use of unique gemstones in our designs.  She asked for images of our work for her upcoming book on exotic gemstones and permission to publish them.  We thought “oh that would be neat, why not?!” but we never really thought our images would be chosen to go to print!

We were so surprised, thrilled, and humbled to receive an email from her telling us that she included our photos in the book and our signed copy was on the way!  Sure enough the book arrived and it was amazing to see our jewelry sharing the same pages of many prominent, well known jewelry designers such as Joel Arthur Rosenthal (JAR), Alex Sepkus, Mark Schneider and Paula Crevoshay, just to name a few.  Our Blue Chalcedony Jelly Ring is on page 86, and facing that on page 87 is our Oasis Pendant. Our Koroit Opal Islands Necklace and Koroit Opal Islands Earrings are featured on page 119.
